Interesting series about Doctor Fate - a new character appearing in Black Adam

Doctor Fate (aka Kent Nelson) is an integral character of the DC universe. First appearing in More Fun Comics issue 55, his popularity certainly cannot be compared with such celebrities as SHAZAM!, John Constantine and Swamp Thing. However, Doctor Fate has remained a character in DC Comics for more than 82 years. In today's post, let's learn about this character.

Both a medical doctor and an archaeologist

From a young age, Kent Nelson was bestowed with the title Doctor Fate. However, he later pursued a career in medicine. He is a brilliant doctor, running a private clinic with his wife, Inza. After retiring, Kent went on to become an archaeologist. Although there are many characters who have taken on the role of Doctor Fate, the only one who also started out as a medical doctor is Khalid Nassour.

Doctor Fate's wife has an important role

Inza Cramer Nelson is the wife of Kent Nelson and the first person to use the title Doctor Fate. In the comics, she used magic herself. In one incident, Inza and Kent Nelson had to merge to become Doctor Fate. Inza has also taken on the role herself, donning Nabu's power hat and transforming into an extremely powerful version.

Doctor Fate is the representative of Nabu The Wise

Kent Nelson met Nabu The Wise when he was just a boy. After the death of his biological father, he was adopted by Nabu until adulthood. Since then, Kent has trained to be a warrior and become the representative of Nabu. Nabu has the ability to control someone when they wear his helmet of power, even if the users are able to suppress him.

In addition to Doctor Fate, Kent Nelson is also a member of The Lords of Order. As Doctor Fate's benefactor and source of strength, Nabu has dedicated his abilities to the group to maintain cosmic balance. This is the group that helps keep the galaxy at peace. The Lords of Chaos' purpose is the opposite, throwing the universe into turmoil - making them enemies of the Lords of Order.

Becoming Fate in the 90s

Kent Nelson has hired dealer Jared Stevens to search for missing Nabu artifacts. However, things start to take a turn for the worse when Stevens tries to fend off a demonic entity. He wielded a lot of artifacts to defend himself and was disfigured. Stevens used Nabu's cloak to heal his wounds. Not stopping there, he melted down other items to create swords and darts.

Later, Jared Stevens took the nickname Fate, becoming the guardian of mystical magic.

Became Doctor StrangeFate

Doctor Fate once merged with Professor X and Doctor Strange in the crossover event titled Amalgam Comics. In it, heroes and villains from Marvel and DC Comics merge together. Doctor StrangeFate was said to be the most powerful wizard at the time and his mission was to keep both universes co-exist. He was later defeated by Doctor Strange and the merged world was destroyed.

As a founding member of JSA

In 1940, Kent Nelson became a member of the Justice Society of America at All-Star Comics. He was introduced to the group through his relationship with The Specter. As Doctor Fate, Kent Nelson becomes the mentor and warrior of this squad. He later left to help create the Justice League of America.

Kent Nelson's arch-nemesis is Wotan - the witch who first appeared in More Fun Comics issue 55. Mastering dark magic, she is known for mastering many formidable skills. Wotan used it to take revenge on the people of his tribe. The character later learned how to prolong his life, thanks in part to his understanding of how souls can be transferred.

Doctor Fate's Power

After completing his training, Nabu gave Kent Nelson a number of gifts before he assumed the role of Doctor Fate. One of them is the powerful Helmet of Nabu - the source of his power. Without it, Kent Nelson is simply an ordinary person. Nabu fused his soul into the helmet, allowing him to instruct its wearer.

Thanks to the cloak and amulet of Anubis, Doctor Fate now possesses a series of supernatural abilities such as creating illusions, flying, invisibility, ...

Doctor Fate has a connection with The Spectre

From the very first years of its introduction, Doctor Fate and The Specter have had a very special relationship. During their time in the comics, they were once close friends and were also on opposite sides, sometimes even fighting each other. Although often initially gaining the advantage, Doctor Fate is ultimately defeated.

In Day of Vengeance , The Specter proved its power when single-handedly taking down The Lords of Order and trapping Doctor Fate. Above are extremely interesting points about the completely new DCEU character that has just appeared in Black Adam . What else do you know about Doctor Fate? Please share it with me.
